Using the conceptual framework of existing literature, 35 items for measuring patient-role performance were developed. The subjects were 250 chronic disease patients who attend general hospitals A and B. Factor analysis extracted 20 items for four factors: 1） compliance behavior, 2） prohibition of self-judgment, 3） cooperative behavior toward treatment and care, and 4）claims on patient\u0027s rights.
