"近年，障害のある子どものきょうだいは，その成長の過程で多岐にわたる課題に直面していることが明らかにされてきており，支援を必要としていると言える。しかし，日本ではまだ十分な体制整備とプログラム開発が行われているとは言い難い状況である。そこで，その先進地域であるイギリスを訪問し，支援プログラムの実際について調査した。調査の結果，イギリスにおいてきょうだい支援は障害児を抱える家族支援の不可欠要素として，公的施策として認められており，全国のサポート機関をつなぐ組織により技術的な連携とプログラムの共有がなされていることが分かった。また，プログラムの内容は，心理面や行動面で、の問題に対する明確な改善の意図を持って計画された，臨床心理や保育，ケアワークの専門家による実践プログラムであり，今後の日本のきょうだい支援プログラム開発にかかる研究の方向性に示唆を得た。",
