 note = {application/pdf, Book, ヘルン文庫配架番号[954]。 原本（長谷川武次郎が1894年＝明治27年に出版したちりめん本『Dichtergrüsse aus dem Osten : Japanische Dichtungen』）は，東京帝國大學でドイツ文学と言語学を講じた Karl Florenz が『万葉集』，『古今和歌集』から江戸末期に至る各時代の詩歌を選んでドイツ語訳したもの。本書はこのドイツ語訳を，インド生まれで英国で学び来日後慶應義塾大學で英語，英文学を教えた Arthur Lloyd が英訳したもの。ドイツ語訳者の Florenz は，Lafcadio Hearn と親交のあった英国人の日本研究家で東京帝國大學文學部名誉教師 Basil Hall Chamberlain の誘いによって当時松江に在住していた Hearn のもとを訪ねたと言われている。絵は，蕉窓（しょうそう），芳宗（よしむね），華邨（かそん）らが描く。帙及び扉の上部中央部分に変体仮名「へるん」の蔵書印がみられる。帙 15.2cm(表+厚み+裏=32.6cm) x 20.0cm, 本体 14.6cm x 19.3cm, 【INDEX.】
