In regional Chinese society (Shaoxing) , various influences on the dramas were analyzed in March and September of 2004. One major result of the study seemed to indicate that seasonal factors did not have great effects on the performance of traditional dramas. On the contrary, dramas were performed all round the year. During the investigation the first thing carefully examined was the background of the dramas performance. It was discovered that, in many cases, main theme s of the dramas were related to some kind of a desire for economic advancement . Many times, these dramas expressed thanks for the improvement of local economic conditions while celebrating the rebirth of a local deity. In Shaoxing, Lianhualuo, Yinggeban and Baojuan have a high popularity among people in the rural religions.
