In the present study, we examined in detail the dependence of the reaction rate on the total pressure of the hydrogen isotope, [H2]+[HT], and HT fraction, [HT]/([H2]+[HT]). The initial reaction rate was proportional to the fraction of [HT]/([H2]+[HT]) and one-half order with respect to [H2]+[HT]. Based on these results in addition to oxygen pressure dependence, the rate equation is given as {Formura} OH and/or H radicals appeared essential to the enhancement of the oxidation rate, although the observed rate equation could not be explicitly derived from theoretical considerations.
