The scissors are entirely handmade with the traditional smithing technique called Tsuke-hagane. Seiichi Takayanagi is the only one Hakata scissorsmith left, and has no successor. If Takayanagi retires from making scissors, the history of Hakata Scissors will end and so does the history of the scissorsmith technique. In this paper, we investigated the process of the Hakata scissor production and recorded the findings. We also studied the distinctive structure of Hakata scissors for connecting a pair of scissor segments at rotation center, which is the result of Takayanagi ﾕs constant effort to understand the meaning of the oral instructions he had
