Details of Benard convection phenomena with density inversion were investigated by visualization of temperature and flow fields. Attention was focused on changes in the number of cells and in the cell aspect ratio with the increase of temperature difference between the top and bottom walls. The Nusselt nummber for the case with density inversion exhibits lower values than that for the case with no density inversion, which is caused by the existence of the stable
