The organic acids used were sulfosalicylic acid, salicylic acid, benzoic acid and benzenesulfonic acid. Use of sulfosalicylic acid had been a patent of Kaiser Aluminium & Chemical Corporation. Results obtained were as follows: Brownish yellow and abrasion-resistant oxide layers were obtained by using sulfosalicylic acid. Additions of salicylic acid and benzoic acid were not effective.
