They are widely used as sliding bearing materials. One (WJ 2) has tin as its main component, the other (WJ 7) lead. The sliding wear tests were performed with lubricant under various compressive stresses and sliding speeds. The log-log plots of the relations between the compressive stresses and the cut off lives are shown by straight lines which differ with sliding speeds. However, there is a unique straight line in the log-log plot between the frictional stress τ and the cut off lives N_f, regardless of the sliding speeds. It was also clarified that the effect of materials on the plot can be eliminated by replacing τ with the non-dimensional stress, τ/σ_, where σ_ is a compressive proof strength (0.125%) of the materials. Furthermore below the critical frictional stress, τ_w no damages were observed., Article}, pages = {2788--2794}, title = {WJ2およびWJ7ホワイトメタル軸受の損傷機構と寿命 (機械要素,潤滑,工作,生産管理など)}, volume = {69}, year = {2003} }
