The subjects were 311 female students in the nursing department of one university. They were asked to write down the level of pain accompanying menstruation using a visual analog scale（VAS）.\nTwelve items were extracted for method of coping with pain, and for each item subjects selected one of three responses: “Use daily,” “Use sometimes,” and “Do not use,” and the responses were examined statistically. From the results it was found that VAS scores showed trimodality. Individual sensitivity to pain and the mechanism of pain onset are thought to be included in VAS score. The life difficulty rate（LDR）, which can offset the sensitivity component of pain, was introduced and a normal distribution as approached by taking the log（LDR）.\nThe R2 of those values calculated with the regression formula below was VAS: 0.84, LDR : 0.77, log（LDR）: 0.93.
