In the guidance, 462 items were totally extracted with a tendency that more items were described in 1999 and 2000 than the preceding 3 years. When categorized based on the Gordon's functional health theory consisting of 11 items, physiological items were extracted more frequently than mental items in this study. In addition, there were several items which were not included in the Gordon's theory. These were confirmation and support of the patient's environment, servicing and support system effective method for the society resources, grasp of situation, and cooperation. As for physical items, the guidance on management practice, concrete assistance methods and their improvement were described. Whereas, the recognition of dignity of human beings to spend the fruitful life was described as a representative mental guidance which were more frequently appeared in the recent 2 years (1999 and 2000).
