The digitization of Japanese language newspapers has made it easier for researchers to investigate newspaper materials and enable researchers to describe Japanese American literary history beyond the scope of specific writers or places. With the current digital materials, it is possible to clarify the connection among writers and their course of movement. In the process of researching the materials, it was found that after returning to Japan, some Japanese immigrant literature writers living in America during the 1910s had a significant connection with folk poets. This paper summarizes the relationship among the writers, considering the literature of Whitman and Trobel as their junctions, and the literary activities of Yonejiro Noguchi.
