Second , a brief history of LAS English curricula at three campuses of the University of Toyama is reviewed to clarify the extent to which unique LAS English classes were carried out independently before the Institute of LAS unified them in 2018. Third, after showing how “English Literacy” and “ English Communication” were unilaterally introduced by the then-university authority, the authors examine the purpose and a dvantages of the “ 2-credits-by-2-classes ” system, which was unfortunately not accepted by the directors of the university due to shortages they could not eradicate . Finally, the authors review the most updated “1-credit-by-4-classes ” system, a combined proficiency-leveled and content-based curriculum due to be introduced in April 2022.
