万人とも200 万人（ＮＨＫクローズアープ現代「”消費される”若者たち　～格差社会の新たな現実」では161 万人）とも言われているが，正確にはわからない。ただし「個人請負」は，昔からあり，家政婦，助産師（婦）などがその典型だった。\n坂の論文では，「個人請負」の例として，建築技師や添乗員，生命保険の外務員，観光ガイドなどを対象に，聞き取り調査を行った。そこでは，「個人請負」の人が抱える最大の問題は，報酬の不払いと長時間労働，不安定な労働時間，そして法律（労働基準法，最低賃金法，労働関係法）が適用されない事があまり知られていないという事だった。\nアメリカでは，「個人請負」は，ホワイトカラー，特に高度専門職の働き方として，確立されている。「連邦労働省」によれば，人数は約2,550 万人，全雇用者の約21％を占める（2015
