The subjects are 124 university students（64 males and 60 females）. Using six different yukata samples, a questionnaire survey was conducted based on the SD method（11 bipolar adjective pairs and an eight-point scale）. Factor analysis, conducted to clarify the structure of how impressions of yukata are evaluated, extracted two factors - potency（activity）and preference（evaluation）- for folded yukata, and three factors - potency（activity）, preference（evaluation）, and formality - for torso-worn yukata. Among the 11 bipolar adjective pairs, the top three greatest mean differences in the impressions of the six yukata were found in “feminine vs. masculine,” “looking young vs. looking old,” and “showy vs. quiet” for yukata in both conditions.
