The initial concentrations of formic acid and hydroxide ion in the mixed solution of formic acid and Fehling\u0027s solution were used as variables to investigate the concentration range where red precipitate (Cu₂O) formed. It was found that the reduction reaction occurred when the pH after mixing formic acid and Fehling\u0027s solution was about 8–10.
