On the Reaction between Metallic Aluminum and Carbon Tetrachloride II : Retardation of the Reaction between Aluminum Particles and Carbon Tetrachloride with Benzophenone or Benzophenone-Alminum Chloride Mixtures

1. The relation between the induction period and the amount of Benzophenone added, has been investigated; the retardation curve in this case, however, appeared in a quite different form as compared with that in acetophenone. 2. The activity scale for 'crushed' AlCl_3 obtained from Benzophenone--AlCl_3 method (Method B) was fairly parallel to that from Acetophenone--AlCl_3 method (Method A). 3. In Method B, different states of AlCl_3 grains gave different results, because the melting point of the compound C_6H_5COC_6H_5--AlCl_3 is 130℃, while the reaction temperature is ca. 77℃. 4. Among samples used, W.S.G. showed a high activity, and B.G. was also prominent in the cases where it had a crumbled form during the reaction or it was in a mechanically crushed condition.
金属アルミニウムと四塩化炭素との反応に就いてはアルミニウムを活性化するか或は触媒を使用して反応を進行させる事が相当以前より知られていたのであるが,著者等はアルミニウム粒をそのままで使用してこの反応を進める事が出来,その代りこの反応には反応誘導期(Induction preriod)があり,それが各種の触媒の添加によって短縮され,しかもその効果はAICl3の方がFeCl3より有効である事等を認め,これ等に関しては既に発表済である。前報にはアセトフェノンを採用し,本報に於てはペンゾフェノンを用いた次第である。
